De Twee Hoeven cheese farm

The Den Boer family has been farming the land of this more than 400-year-old farm for generations.

On De Twee Hoeven traditional farmer’s cheese has been made for over 100 years. In 2017 the completely new cheese factory was built. Newest techniques are used to produce not only young and matured cheese but also some 25 varieties of herb cheeses.

Willemijn and Niek den Boer are together with their sons Teun, Jelle and Luuk, the fourth generation that lives and works on cheese farm De Twee Hoeven on the Steinsedijk in Haastrecht. This family business milks their 200 cows twice a day and from the fresh milk they produce around 4.000 kilos of cheese per week. Part of the cheese is sold in their own farm shop.

At De Twee Hoeven you can book your own (educational) tour of the farm. During the 90 minutes tour you will learn and see all the ins and outs of the farm. To finish the tour you can enjoy a cheese platter or a cheese fondue in the special haystack.

A few years back the haystack has been transformed in a special space for groups. Small or large groups are welcome for birthday parties, luncheons, meetings or a cheese fondue. Tailor-made offerings can be made for any group.
