Kaasmuseum & Cheese Farm Package

It’s all about cheese making, from the past to the present.

Included in this package is a visit to the cheese making facility, the storage and the farm shop, along with access to the Kaasmuseum (cheese museum) in Bodegraven. You’ll learn everything about milk extraction, butter preparation, the cheese market and cheese storage. There is a tablet with a puzzle and a photo scavenger hunt for children (for 6 to 20 ppl.).

A collection with unique historical objects and a rich story about cheese, cheese making, the cheese market, farm life and the cheese trade in Bodegraven. Historical and contemporary. To complete the story, the story of the contemporary cheese trade in Bodegraven and surroundings has now also been added; the historical road from cow to cheese trade and the reason why Bodegraven occupies such an important position on the worldwide ‘cheese’ map today!

De Graaf cheese farm

The De Graaf family runs their cheese farm on the Buitenkerk in Bodegraven with great fun and passion since 1928. Currently the third and fourth generation are working on the farm. Since 1995 Irma and Gerrit are the proud owners and their son Adriaan wil take over in the future. On the farm around 100 cows are milked twice a day. In summer the cows graze on the lush meadows and in winter they stay indoors in their new and sustainable barn. Enter the farm shop via the porch where the farm vending machine has recently been set up, and it’s like stepping back in time. In the authentic shop only genuine farmers cheese is sold. It’s made by Gerrit and Irma using the milk from their own cows.

Cheese Valley

Cheese Valley, a unique area in the middle of the Groene Hart region. It is made up of four municipalities with special stories and experiences and, above all, it’s the heart and origin of real cheese, Holland’s yellow gold. Listen to the story below.
