The Streekmuseum Krimpenerwaard is the center for cultural heritage in the region. When you walk onto the site, you imagine yourself in a world from 100 years ago. On a path of ice-stones, surrounded by apple trees, you walk through the boenhok, the wagon shed and the haystack against the 17th-century monumental farm of the ‘hallehuis’ type.
Since 1953, the museum has housed objects relating to life and work in the region between approximately 1800 and 1945 and the history of the region. The collection consists of more than 20.000 objects of all kinds, from christening gowns to thistle tongs, from crockery to food vouchers.
In collaboration with cultural institutions in Krimpen a/d IJssel, activities are organized all year round for young and old. Think of the Open Monument Day, children’s workshops during the school holidays, markets and much more!
